Growing up in the New Orleans area, he is no stranger to artistic influence. Whether it was the rich musical heritage or the character of the surrounding architecture that pushed him forward, it was only a matter of time before he was called to the arts.
Captivated by illustrative works and the need to express his interpretation of his surroundings, he began to observe, study, and ultimately create. The subjects vary, but the whimsical and endearing nature of his work stays true to his belief that life should not be taken too seriously. There should always be time for free interpretation and pure enjoyment.
Many of his works focus on the eyes of the subjects, which he exaggerates purposely to pull the viewer into the painting. He wants people to feel the emotion of the subject, to relate to the expression. He wants the viewer to know what each character is thinking.
Besides the musical influence evident in many of his works, there is also his love and appreciation of animals. It is with these works that he truly captures the emotion of his subjects. He strives to portray the wonderful and unique personalities of the animals in his art. From the most curious of cats to the ever-confused dog, he never tires of giving these animals their own personality.
His paintings often bring laughter and happiness, and sometimes even confusion to his audience. His perspective is unusual and his use of color is captivating.
